FAQ

APLI Soft is software for Windows that includes 4 different programs for printing APLI products. APLI Soft works as freestanding software and does not require installing any additional elements. The program installs the following 4 applications:

• APLI Label: To create your APLI labels.
• APLI Business Card: To create your APLI business cards.
• APLI CD Label: To create CD-DVD inserts and labels with totally personalised designs.
• APLI Hobby&Papers: To create and print your designs on transfer paper for t-shirts, magnets, tattoo paper, window film, etc.

APLI Master is an assistant program to edit and print labels in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. This program requires Microsoft Office to be installed (Word, Excel, Access) as it works as an assistant to them.

APLI web print is an online tool to edit APLI labels. To use it, click here.

We currently do not have software for MAC operating systems.

To work with a MAC, you can use the online app APLI WEB PRINT, available for designing labels, multimedia labels and business cards.

APLI currently does not have any application for editing labels with Android or iPhone.

However, it is possible to edit them if you have Microsoft Word for mobile devices installed. In this case, you must download the Word templates available on our website and open the document to edit it.

1. To download APLI Soft, click here.

2. Once you have chosen the download, a dialogue window will open in which you must determine where you want to store the file on your computer and select “Save File” for the download to begin.

3. Once the download is complete, open the file to start the installer assistant and follow the instructions displayed.

1. Make sure that your anti-virus program is not blocking the download.

2. Make sure that the person using the computer has the necessary permissions to install programs. If this is not the case, access the computer again as the “Administrator” to install the program.

If, after checking the above, you are still unable to download APLI SOFT, please send us an email: apli@apli.com.

By default, the last designs saved in APLI Soft will appear in the lower part of the File menu.

If you want to open a file that is not on this list, select File > Open.

Then select the desired file in the folder where it is stored on your computer.

APLI Soft does not have an option for exporting labels to design programs such as Illustrator or Photoshop, however, you can use these design programs to create your own design, save it as an image and import it to APLI software using the insert image option.

Once you have selected the reference you want to work on, choose the barcode icon on the left-hand menu.

Then click on the label.

A new window will open where you can select the type of barcode you want. Select it, enter the number and click on OK to generate the barcode on the label.

When you have selected the label you want to work on, to start editing a text, select the text icon on the left-hand menu and click on the label.

On doing this, a window will open where you can write and format the text. When it is ready, click on OK.

When you have selected the label you want to work on, choose the image icon on the left-hand side menu and click on the label.

When you do this, a window will open where you can choose the image you want to load, look for it in your computer and click on Accept when you have found it.

Once you have selected the label you wish to work on, select Database > Open database from the upper menu and choose the type of file that your database is stored in to load it.

Once loaded, you can add the different fields as you edit the text.

To start editing a text, select the text icon on the left-hand menu and click on the label.

On doing this, a window will open where you can write and format the text. When it is ready, click on OK.

The different data will be loaded and printed automatically once printing has started.

APLI Label is only compatible with .xls files, but not .xlsx (default format as of Excel 2007). To solve this, open the file with Microsoft Excel and save it again: File > Save as, selecting the format “Microsoft Excel 97-2003 (.xls)” for saving.

When you have done this, return to APLI Label and open the database again via Database > Open database and select “3. MS Excel File”.

The APLI Label counter function is used to number the labels and show this number on the label.

When you have selected the label you want to work on, choose the numbering icon on the left-hand side menu and click on the label.

After clicking on this button, the following screen will be displayed:

This screen enables you to define the initial value as well as the increment.

By default, the initial value and the increment is 1. This means that the first number will be 1 and that it will increase one by one, i.e., you will have the values 1,2,3,4… for the first, second, third, fourth… labels.

It is possible to define a prefix and/or suffix, i.e., a text that will be added before and/or after the value. For example, if you define “page” as prefix and “…” as suffix, instead of “1”, ”2”, “3” and “4”, we will have “page 1…”, “page 2…”, “page 3…” and “page 4…”.

The “Fixed digit” field enables you to indicate that you want a minimum number of digits, the number will be filled in with zeros on the left if the number of digits is less. A value of 5 may be adequate, for example, if you want the number in format 00001, 00002, 00003… (which could be useful if the counter is for postcodes, for example). A value of 0 would not add any zero on the left.

Finally, the option “Adjust initial value after printing” if marked, will maintain the counter increased after the printing, so the next print run will contain the following values instead of repeating the same ones.

The margins of the labels can be adjusted manually selecting File > Printer position in the upper menu.

To print in APLI Label, you must select in the upper menu: File > Print.

Then, once you have chosen the printer, click on Next and select the printing option you wish:

• “Number of designs / cards”: Enables you to select the number of labels you want to print, regardless of the number of labels per page.

• “Number of pages”: The total number of labels on a page will be printed.

If you experience problems when using APLI Master, follow these instructions:

1. Completely uninstall the application.

2. Download the application again. You can download it here.

3. 3. Reinstall the application as an “Administrator” to avoid problems with a possible lack of privileges.

To work with APLI Master, once installed, first start one of the 3 applications (APLI Master for Word, APLI Master for Excel or APLI Master for Access). The choice of application will depend on the origin of the data, as all 3 applications generate a Word document.

• Choose APLI Master for Word if you want to write the content of the labels manually, both if you want all the labels to be the same or if you want to edit each of the labels on a page individually. APLI Master for Word will generate a Word document with a single sheet for printing. If you want to print more sheets, it will be necessary to make multiple uses of APLI Master for Word or copy and paste the sheet generated multiple times in the Word document.
• Select APLI Master for Excel if you want to create a Word document from data that is in a Microsoft Excel file. In this case, it is recommended to keep Microsoft Excel open with the book that contains the spreadsheet where the desired data exists, minimize it and execute APLI Master for Excel. In this manner, APLI Master for Excel will automatically detect the Excel book and will only ask which of the sheets in the book you want to use, as well as also allow to add your columns within the design of the label on the “Product design” screen.
• Select APLI Master for Access if you want to create a Word document from data in a table on a Microsoft Access database. APLI Master for Access operates in a very similar manner to APLI Master for Microsoft Excel, changing the books for databases, the spreadsheets for tables or consultations, and the columns for fields.

Once you have selected the label you want to work on, choose the barcode icon on the left-hand menu.

A new window will open where you can select the type of barcode you want. Select it, enter the number and click on OK to generate the barcode on the label.

2. Enter the reference number of the label you wish to edit or search by category.

3. You can edit the label using the buttons on the left-hand menu of the screen. 

When you have finished editing, you can print or save the label.

Enter the APLI label reference in the search engine and click on Search.

A pop-up window will appear automatically with the Word document to save. Click on Ok, choose the location you want to use to save it on your computer and click on Save.

Open a new Word document and select the following route in the upper menu: Correspondence > Labels.

A window will open in which you must select Options.

Within Options, you must select the “Label Brand” > APLI. When you have done this, a list will be loaded with all the APLI templates available by reference. On the right you will see the dimensions of each reference, so you can choose the best one for your needs.

To view the division lines of the templates, follow this route in the upper menu in Word: Table tools > Design > Edges > See grid.

The templates downloaded in Word format leave a small safety margin to avoid small printing errors, caused by the printer, movement of the paper or by the fact that most printers cannot print on the last centimeter of the paper.

It must be kept in mind that the templates are designed to print price labels or to send “mailing”, more than for designs that make the most of available space. For more precise designs, we recommend downloading the APLI Soft program. Available here.
