Pendant decorative pom-poms

You can welcome the coming of Spring with a colourful handicraft activity. Have you ever asked yourself how pom-poms are made? Well, now we’re going to reveal the secret.

MATERIALS

APLI wool

APLI scissors

Cardboard

Needle for wool

STEP 1

Cut 4 pieces of cardboard in the shapes and sizes you can see in the photo.

STEP 2

Take the wool and wind it onto them.

STEP 3

Continue winding until it’s quite thick.

STEP 4

Cut off a piece of the same wool and tie it around the whole roll. The knot should be quite tight.

STEP 5

Take the roll off the piece of card and holding it by the centre, cut the sides.

STEP 6

The next step is a bit more difficult. You must trim the threads to give it a spherical pom-pom shape.

STEP 7

And here it is, it should look more or less like this.

STEP 8

For the finishing touch, take the rectangular piece of cardboard and wind the wool around it.

STEP 9

Cut, slide the thread underneath and make a knot.

STEP 10

Remove the wool from the card and cut the bottom part.

STEP 11

Now take some wool in another colour and wind it round the top, as in the photo.

STEP 12

Now you’ve got all the pieces of the pendant! The last thing to do is to join them together with the needle for wool.

And here is the result, you can combine colours as you like and change the size of the pom-poms by modifying the pieces of card. We hope you liked it!
