Easy geometry
A honeycomb, a piece of cheese, chocolate... What shape do they have? This activity involving Apli materials will help kids to discover geometry in the world that surrounds them... what a surprise it will be!
MATERIALS
Apli Eva foam
Apli wooden sticks
Apli coloured wooden sticks
Apli scissors
STEP 1
First, we ask our child to look around his or her environment and look for geometric forms. We can help them with questions and clues: What shape does a coloured pencil have if we look at it
from behind? How do bathroom tiles look? How many sides do traffic lights have? We will then help them to draw them onto a piece of paper and use their drawings as stencils to cut them out in different coloured Apli eva foam.
STEP 2
Let's start to play! Now we help our little ones to stick a Apli wooden stick onto each of the sides, to help them to develop their fine motor skills and if they keep counting... It will help them to discover how many sides the figure has!
STEP 3
And what more can we do? Well, we cut out the same amount of buttons as the sides and put them in the centre. Do you know anything else that has six sides?
And four?
And three?
All you have to do is look at it and rack your brains! ;-)
