May this Halloween be full of pumpkins!

There are only a few days to go before we hear the howl of the wolf, before we scream our heads off at a door slamming in our faces or run out the door when your little ones tell you that they want to dress up for Halloween. Before your little ones come up with any old thing, here are some fun fancy dress ideas that they can try out: a pumpkin! We use the following materials: insidepost_17 -APLI Dressy Bond fancy dress fabric. In three colours: green, orange and black. -Satin ribbon. -1 cm-thick rubber band. -One large safety pin. -APLI scissors. -Four bags of cotton woll. -Sewing machine*. -Pumpkin_template *APLI super tip! Don't worry if you don’t have a sewing machine! Our Dressy Bond sticks perfectly with any of these adhesive products: school glue, liquid silicone, glue gun, double-sided tape, plant glue and special glue for textiles. Now you have no excuses.....so, down to work!

STEP 1:

insidepost_16 Cut out two 40 cm wide x 50 cm long double sheets in two different colours. In this case, the green one will be used to line the inside while the orange one will be used for the outside. Don't forget that they are double. This size is intended for kids aged about 5 or 6, but you can make it bigger depending on the size you need, proportionally adding on several centimetres. Afterwards, place the two double pieces one on top of the other and cut out the upper corners which will become the sleeves. Cut about 6.5 cm from the top and 14 cm from the side. insidepost_18

STEP 2:

Then download the template with the pumpkin face and cut it out on the black APLI Dressy Bond fabric. When we have the different pieces, sew them on to the orange cloth using a sewing machine. Turn over the orange piece. insidepost_15 insidepost_14insidepost_12

STEP 3:

Sew the side of the both the green and the orange fabric. insidepost_13

STEP 4:

Join the two double pieces sewing the edge of the sleeves. insidepost_11 insidepost_10

STEP 5:

Make a few small incisions using the scissors in order to be able to place the fabric properly and easily turn it around. insidepost_9

STEP 6:

Now fold over about 3 cm at the bottom of the pumpkin to pass the rubber band through using a safety pin. Leave a small piece unstitched in order to insert the rubber band and pleat the piece of cloth. It should end up like a balloon. insidepost_8 insidepost_7 insidepost_6 insidepost_5

STEP 7:

We can now fill the space between the green and the orange piece which we have left open with cotton wool. We have used three packets of cotton wool but you can use more if you would like it to be more cushioned. Make another 4 cm hem once it is filled and stitch it with the machine. Insert the green satin ribbon with the aid of a safety pin, pleat it and make a loop on one side. insidepost_4 insidepost_3 insidepost_2 insidepost_1 This pumpkin fancy dress is ideal for wearing with a black long-sleeved t-shirt and leggings in the same colour. Now it is comfortable and snug! Happy Halloween everyone!
