Create the summer decor for your class!

We start the last week of the academic year, summer is already coming and with it, the heat. It’s time to do activities related to this time of year, and there’s no better theme for kids to develop their creativity than with marine animals!

We propose three fun handicrafts to do in class for developing imagination, creativity and manual skills. Three easy handicrafts for students to have fun before the end of the course.

Starfish

Material needed:

  • Color cardboard
  • Moving eyes or eye stickers
  • Pom-poms
  • Color buttons
  • Glitter Glue
  • Markers
  • White glue
  • Scissors
Handicraft summer material

Children will let their imagination fly by creating starfish of different colors and with different material.

  1. Cut on color cardboards the shape of a star with five rounded tips.
  2. Glue two moving eyes in the middle of the star.
  3. Draw a smile with a black marker.
  4. Decorate the stars as you like to make them more fun: glue pom-poms or buttons around them; paint the edge with Glitter Glue with contrasting colors; or draw frieze on the edge of different colors and shapes.

Octopus

Material needed:

  • Cardboard
  • Paper strips
  • Moving eyes
  • Confetti hearts
  • White glue
  • Scissors

Create this fun octopus to immerse in the marine world. You can choose the colors you prefer. Once you have created different octopuses, you can connect them with a thread to create a garland.

  1. Cut the shape of the octopus head on a blue cardboard.
  2. Glue strips of paper to create the tentacles.
  3. Cut two rounds on a white cardboard to create the eyes.
  4. Glue two moving eyes over the white circles.
  5. Draw the eyelashes with a black marker.
  6. Glue the confetti with the white glue on the head of the octopus to decorate it.

Fish

Material needed:

  • Color cardboard
  • Color wooden sticks
  • Felt
  • Cord
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors

The third handicraft is a fun fish to hang in class or for children to decorate their bedroom.

  1. Cut a half circle on a color cardboard and two half circles joined together on the same cardboard.
  2. Cut a cardboard strip and glue one edge to the half circle and the other edge to the other shape.
  3. Glue color wooden sticks on the strip perpendicularly.
  4. To create the eye, cut three circles with felt from larger to smaller color cardboard, white and black one. Glue them together and then in the half circle.
  5. Decorate the fish with cardboard points of different sizes.
  6. Finally, create the mouth of the fish with felt and glue a cord behind it to symbolize the fishing rod.
